Psychology students at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública watched the play “Memories of the Open Sea: Medéia tells its story”, at Teatro Martim Gonçalves, on August 23, as an activity of the course Development of the Life Cycle V. Accompanied by professors Lêda Lessa and Ubton Nascimento, the students participated of a conversation circle with the cast and the director of the show, Letícia Bianchi.

The play is an adaptation of the Greek classic “Medéia”, written by the Brazilian playwright Consuelo de Castro, and features the award-winning actress Viviane Laerte as the protagonist. The show retains the tragic tension of Euripides' text in a version that promotes articulation with contemporary issues.

The conversation in the conversation circle covered themes related to violence against women, betrayal, revenge, power and democracy. Participants also discussed the emotions caused by their experience in the theater, and the actors and the director shared their experiences with the production of the play.
