The celebration of the 18th anniversary of the Psychology course at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública was marked with the realization of the I Jornada de Psicologia, which took place on August 31st and September 1st, at Campus Cabula. The event also marked the celebration of 18 years of the Psychopedagogical Care Center (NAPP) and 15 years of the Psychology Clinic, milestones celebrated at the opening ceremony, which also featured the presentation of the theater show "Criança Viada or as I was told that I was gay”, by author and actor Vinícius Bustani, under the direction of Paula Lice.

The night of September 1st was also the time to pay tribute to former employees who participated in the history of the course, clinic and NAPP. Therefore, the professors Mônica Daltro, former coordinator of the Psychology course and currently part of the undergraduate and graduate faculty, Myla Arouca, current manager of the Psychology Clinic, Maria Antonieta Araújo and Luiza Ribeiro, first and second NAPP managers respectively, Angélica Mendes, current NAPP manager, Eridã Almeida Santos, an employee at the Clínica de Psicologia, and professors Anabela Queiroz and Márcia Tironi.

"The course has been in existence for 18 years, but it has never been stopped or inattentive to what we have been discussing in psychology. Everything we have developed is directly related to what is proposed in this area, which completes 56 years of experience in Brazil", says Sylvia Barreto , highlighting the tribute that the Federal Council of Psychology paid to 56 professionals, including two from Bahia: prof. Antônio Virgílio Bittencourt Bastos and prof. Marcos Vinícios de Oliveira (in memorian). "Our challenges remain the same, we are reflecting, in an ethical and critical way, the role of psychology in society", he reiterates.

Sylvia explains that the program of the day was collectively built and prioritized the appreciation of all those who contributed to the history of the course, thus having as a highlight, on the second day of activities, the opening conference "Challenges in Training in Psychology" , with the presence of Maria Rosália Correia, the first coordinator of the Psychology course, and the round table "Psychology for what? For whom?", with representatives of class bodies, in the afternoon, in addition to the exhibition of various workshops given by former students of the course.

For Angélica Mendes, the success of the NAPP comes from the effort and commitment of the entire team at the Nucleus: "It is not possible for the work of the NAPP to become mechanical, because when you work with subjectivity, with psychic, emotional and emotional issues, mental health, you are constantly challenged to take care of articulations and spaces of expression, of dialogue. Our practice challenges us all the time to deal with subjectivity. Our job is to open up, expand and invite our teachers, students and their families to express their questions."

According to the manager of the Psychology Clinic and professor of the undergraduate course, Myla Arouca, the unit's 15 years have been built through a look focused on the individual and society: "The Psychology Clinic is always attentive to the training of the future psychologist We are aware of what society needs and, especially, social demands. We have a diversity of possibilities for action, so we cannot just think about our reality, about what we think is most important. Contextualizing this subject who needs our care is our biggest challenge."

The event had a gift offered by the student Luiza Rodrigues of the 6th semester of Psychology, a poetry that was read during the Journey.
