The itinerary for the visitation of the Bahiana for one day it covered activities related to courses in Medicine, Physiotherapy, Dentistry, Physical Education, Nursing, Psychology and Biomedicine. Lasting 20 minutes for each course, the action ended at 17:XNUMX.
To present the Medicine course, the monitors from the morphofunctional science group exposed, under the guidance of professor Suzana Araújo, the curricular components classified into four stations, in the morphofunctional laboratory. To do so, the students were subdivided into small teams, through alternating rounds.
In Room S01, PAV III, the Experimentation in Electrotherapy activity took place, with the aim of highlighting the practices of the Physiotherapy course in the context of neurological rehabilitation. The person responsible for this stage was Professor Cláudia Costa, who found it very rewarding to receive students and demonstrate the work performed at the institution. “It's great to be able to explain about the resources that physiotherapy has in the care of individuals, whether in neurological, orthopedic or breathing-related pathology”, he adds.
In Dentistry, the administrative manager of the Dental Center, Lísia Oliveira, presented the Dental Center of Bahiana, including its structure and forms of service. For Lísia, it is from visits like this that the students perspective changes in relation to dentistry.
“The concern we have with sterile materials, with the quality of service and with the public that is served is remarkable. We have a humanized treatment”, highlights the manager, highlighting that the Dentistry course gains more prominence when students observe how the center is structured.
In the Laboratory of Study of Movement / Skills in Physical Education, the laboratory routine in sports science was explained by Professor João Franco. The stage was based on elucidating the forms of performance of the physical educator and the workshops offered by the course.
In addition to emphasizing the importance of participating in the Bahiana for a day, as he exposes physical education as a field of knowledge and professional activity, the professor pondered that "there are several productions, in the institution, used for research and doctorate", but physical education is present in different scenarios: "academies , hospitals, clinics, neuromuscular or cardiovascular rehabilitation, treatment for obesity or for cases involving mental and even public health.”
Students were also able to participate and learn behaviors involving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), with Professor Ronesca Santana Dias, in the Nursing laboratory. The activities related to the Biomedicine course were applied in the microscopy laboratory, with Professor Adalardo Carneiro. In room S07, PAV III, Professor Carolina Aguiar mediated the activity “Myths and Truth about Psychology”.
For Clara Viana, 16, a student at Colégio Anglo-Brasileiro, to get to know the Bahiana it was very productive because, thus, “we have a better idea of what the routine of each course is like, in addition to being a different activity”. The student describes the experience as quite valid, even for those who do not intend to follow the health area.
On the other hand, Amine Salomão, 17, approved the experience, mainly because she was already interested in the area: “it is necessary to know what to expect in a short time”. After the day of activities, the student from Colégio Anglo-Brasileiro even considers studying at the institution and declares that, in the classroom, the contents are taught theoretically, but that, in the Bahiana, had the opportunity to witness a little of the practice.
