For the 5th consecutive year, the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública was recognized as a good place to work, being among the top five in the Great Place to Work Award, in 2017. The institution was in 3rd place, behind only the companies Atento (1st place) and Dínamo (2nd place) and ahead of Instituto Nordeste Cidadania (4th place) and Supermercados GBarbosa (5th place). The awards ceremony took place on the night of May 29, at the Instituto Mulheres da Bahia.

The methodology for choosing and defining the ranking is based on a survey carried out with employees, with 58 questions and two more open-ended questions, in addition to an analysis of the cultural practices of Human Resources developed by the companies. The survey questions answered by employees involve topics such as the company's relationship with managers and leaders, the work environment, professional development, remuneration policy and transparency. There are still other criteria, such as credibility, respect, impartiality, pride and camaraderie, which are the dimensions referring to the assessment of the level of trust of employees.

According to Luiza Ribeiro, the employees' admiration is the result of the coherence between their work and the values defended by the institution. “Employees are partners and participate in both the design of projects and their execution. They are the main pieces in the process”, she said in an interview with Correio. “As a health training entity, we focus on the quality of life of our employees, through activities carried out, including by teachers from the School itself”, stated Luiza.

Telma Bastos says that the award confirms the institution's work in taking care of its employees. "We have been among the five best companies to work for in Bahia for five years. The GPTW certifies us for what we already are". She explains that the survey is also an opportunity to better listen to the wishes of employees, opening spaces for feedback. "Because the company's purpose is to serve people. We take care of people in their particularities and difficulties. We are present in their lives, and this is a differential".

Telma explains that this result is also due to the fact that the institution seeks to involve employees in all the processes it carries out: Prosef, a process in which 150 people from different sectors participate in the Employee Meeting, an occasion in which multipliers are brought together to carry out courses with great adherence of staff, and the Strategic Planning, "where we seek the participation of everyone in the institution, in order to highlight the importance of their work for the Bahiana".

According to Telma, the culture of serving, of caring about others, is already rooted in the employees themselves. As an example, the institution hosted and is supporting the Conscious Consumption Fair, an initiative proposed by the group of Young Apprentices from Bahiana. The idea is that employees donate, until June 6th, objects in good condition, such as clothes, shoes, accessories, books and decoration items, which will be sold at low cost. The event will take place on June 8, in Cabula, and June 12, in Brotas. All funds raised will be donated to social institutions.
