Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública promotes a course on Assistance to Polytrauma Victims

Course is aimed at students of the Bahiana and external audiences.

The Medicine course of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública will hold, on June 20, at Campus Cabula, the course on Assistance to Polytrauma Victims: a multidisciplinary approach. With a workload of 10 hours, the program is linked to the curricular component of First Aid and will take place from 8:18 am to 50:60,00 pm. XNUMX places will be made available, and the registration fee is R$ XNUMX, for students from the Bahiana, and R$ 70,00 for the external public.

The course aims to provide theoretical and practical knowledge on how to care for a polytrauma victim, considering a multidisciplinary approach based on the possibility of multiple injuries. The syllabus is divided into: what is trauma? What types? Epidemiological aspects; Primary and Secondary Assessment in the approach to polytrauma victims; Head trauma; Chest, abdominal and extremity trauma; Cervical, limb and spine immobilization; Helmet removal, in addition to rolling and placing on the board.

The course will be taught in two stages: a theoretical part, with an approach to trauma and how to assist the polytrauma victim, and a practical part, with situation simulation stations.

Trauma is the leading cause of death in the population aged 1 to 44 years. It is a situation that mainly affects the economically active population and results in high-cost social consequences. Therefore, it is important that students and health professionals are trained in this branch of care for polytrauma victims.
