Solidarity, present in small gestures of attention to others, was the motto of an action carried out by the members of the Viver Melhor Group, linked to the Candeal Project, which brings together students of medicine, psychology, physiotherapy and residents of the community of Brotas. Coordinated by the professor of Medicine and director of ADAB, Dr. Eliana de Paula, they carried out, on May 05, a visit to the shelter for the elderly Sister Maria Luisa Home, in the Mares district, Cidade Baixa. 

The institution, which operates in three charities, assists 76 elderly people, offering, in addition to housing and food, attention and health care that are intensified with voluntary and altruistic actions, such as the visit of the group from Bahiana.

On that occasion, the students measured the blood pressure of those assisted, helped with the snack and made the donation of food and essential items such as sheets and blankets.

“This house is a charity house that lives off donations. It's the people's charity that makes this happen here, since we don't receive anything from the government or the city hall”, declares Sister Cícera, responsible for Lar Irmã Maria Luisa for more than 20 years.

At the end of the visit, Graça Rocha, one of the members of the Viver Melhor Group, read a message of her authorship, fraternizing all those present.

CAMPAIGN
Solidarity springs from itself. Therefore, the visiting group decided to start a campaign to collect non-perishable food and basic necessities (clothes, warm clothes, blankets, sheets, etc.) to be donated to Lar Irmã Maria Luisa. To participate, simply send your donation to the ADAB board or to the secretariat of one of the Academic Units.
