BAHIANA OFFERS OPTIONAL COURSE IN BRAZILIAN SIGNALS LANGUAGE - LIBRAS

Marlene Santos Cardoso
Specialist in Brazilian Sign Language, LIBRAS interpreter with 15 years of experience with deaf people. It works with pedagogical assistance for the deaf and people with learning difficulties. 

 

OBJECTIVES

• Enable educators to communicate through Brazilian Sign Language, in order to enable the citizen inclusion of the deaf person.

• Enable hearing/deaf communication by teaching the basic signs used in the daily life of the deaf.
• Allow the appropriation of techniques that help to understand the culture of the deaf and its particularities.
• Provide an overview of the structure of sign language compared to Portuguese. 

 

CONTENTS

• History of Sign Language and the education of the deaf.

• The culture of the deaf.

• Fingerprinting (manual alphabet): separate word, letter by letter.
• Basic signs of LIBRAS.
• Legal aspects (Declaration of Salamanca, Law 10.436/2002 and Decree No. 5.626).
• Interacting with silence: experiencing the practice.

Students of all courses and grades in the Bahiana.
