“Assessment and adaptation of environments” was the theme of the workshop offered this Tuesday morning (27/10) as an opening activity for the XVI Week of Occupational Therapy at the Bahiana which also takes place today (28/10), with activities such as workshops, lectures and round tables.

Taught by the French occupational therapist Muriel Soubeyran, the course had a theoretical part that included the presentation of the reality of Occupational Therapy in France, notions of adapting environments and cases of adapted environments. In the second part, the participants performed a practical activity that consisted of adapting a home environment, based on a clinical case, using the VISIO software.

One of the differences between Brazil and France pointed out by Muriel Souberyran is that, in that country, there are several associations of people with limitations that hire occupational therapists to carry out projects to adapt environments. “In France, the movement of these associations is very strong, which makes it possible to carry out projects, as they put pressure on the government that pays for the adaptations”, says Muriel.
