Occupational Therapy

Helping people to regain their independence, through autonomy in carrying out daily, work and leisure activities. This is the main job of the occupational therapist, a profession that has been gaining more and more space, as the concern with the well-being and integration of individuals who have some limitations has also grown. According to a survey by Business2.0 Journals, magazine of the American network CNN, Occupational Therapy appears among the ten professions that will be most valued until 2014. SerTO - Occupational Therapy Service of Bahiana

The Occupational Therapy course at Bahiana is the only one in Bahia with more than ten years. Like the other graduations at the School, the course offers students the opportunity to experience, from the beginning, the routine of the profession. In this way, a free service is offered to the community, which is now assisted by students supervised by occupational therapist teachers specialized in the areas of Attention to Children and Adolescents, Worker's Health and Adult Health Care.

O SerTO, in addition to being a space for teaching and assistance, it is also a laboratory for research and construction of new technologies. Focused on the prevention, maintenance and health recovery of people with difficulties or limitations to carry out activities of daily living, SerTo offers individual and group care, as well as providing guidance and training on the use of orthotics, prostheses and adaptations. All services are free
