10 YEARS OF THE PSYCHOLOGY COURSE OF BAHIANA

Dynamism, innovation and creative freedom. These are just some of the guiding guidelines for the Psychology course at Bahiana who has just turned 10 years old. 

Freedom is also a feature of the Psychology course in Bahiana which is very dynamic, innovative, a course that allows for creation, where professors from all sectors have the possibility of creation. An example of this is the Candeal Project, coordinated by Prof. Antonieta. The initiative has the participation of students from all courses at the Bahiana who work in a multidisciplinary way, developing health education activities with communities in the Sanitary District of Brotas.

Innovation

For the coordinator of the Psychology Research Center, Prof. Henrique Morais, the 10 years of the course were marked by innovation, including the use of new information technologies, with the participation of the Psychology course in the Virtual Health Library (BVS-PSI), the use of video conferencing, the use of Moodle platform and other teaching/learning tools developed by the Educational Technologies Development Center of Bahiana (CEDETE).

Experience

Contentment is not just for teachers. Students also participate in the celebrations and declare their satisfaction with the Bahiana. “I really like the Bahiana because we start doing the basic internship right away and that's very good, as I'm going to get out of here well into practice”, says Nathália Bacellar, a 6th semester student. She says that she feels more prepared for the market, as she has already worked in supervised care at the Teaching-Care Outpatient Clinic of the Bahiana, in community centers and in schools.

Another interesting experience happened with Rene Azevedo. 6th semester student. Rene was transferred from another institution. “I always dreamed of studying Psychology. I started studying at another institution and saw that that was not where my destiny was. Then I came to Bahiana that helps to realize my dream. We feel part of the School and also participate in this success. Because the Bahiana without its students it is just another institution. It's great to know that I contribute to the Bahiana and it's comforting to know that I will always be Bahiana, even as a former student”.

Not unlike his colleagues, Dayane Pereira chose the Bahiana “because it makes it possible to work in the health area. We have three basic internships, one specific, and we are always being encouraged to take extracurricular internships. Another difference is that here we have professors from various currents of Psychology. Thus, I leave here a health professional who is more competitive, in the market, and more committed to society, above all to the health of society”.
