Scheduled to start in 2018.2, the Technologist course in Health Informatics will last for three years. According to its coordinator, the professor of the Medicine course and coordinator of the Telemedicine and Telehealth Center at Bahiana, Marta Menezes, the course arose from the need for health to use technology properly. “There is a difficulty for health professionals in relation to new technologies and, in particular, computer resources. On the other hand, it is also difficult to find IT professionals who understand the demands and requests of health”, he explains.

In this way, the course will train professionals to work uniting these two areas. “We are going to train professionals who will serve as interpreters between the two areas. It will be a course that will train a hybrid professional, it will be a new profession. I say that the profile is of someone who has a lot of affinity with technology and who accepts health well”, explains Marta Menezes, pointing out, as fields of work, hospitals, public management, health units, among others.

"This is a very important moment for the Bahiana that launches an innovative course with unique features. It will be a course that will add great value, as we will have professionals that we need so much in the health area”, declared Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani.
