World Food Day

This year, World Food Day was celebrated differently in the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública. To mark the date, celebrated on October 16 and which in this edition had as its theme food security for emigrants and refugees, students of the 4th semester of the Nursing course who are taking the Nutrition in Health curricular component carried out a series of activities in the external lobby of the library Cabula Academic Unit.

The activity aimed to raise awareness of food waste that occurs throughout the production chain, from the field to the table. Thus, the concept of healthy eating was developed, based on the discussion of the food guide for the Brazilian population; the importance of water resources, from an environmental point of view, as well as for people's health and, finally, a joke was made about the waste of food from the fields to the families' table, highlighting the possibility of the full use of food from practical and low-cost recipes.

After each presentation, a space was opened for discussion with all those present, including students from other courses who participated and employees of the institution.
