Nursing discusses the National Primary Care Policy in a Conversation Round

Meeting was attended by academics, professors and guests.

The new National Policy on Primary Care (PNAB) was the theme of the roundtable held by the Nursing course at Bahiana, on November 1st at the Cabula Academic Unit. Mediated by Professor Aidê Nunes da Silva, the meeting was attended by guests Aladilce Souza, nurse and councilor, and professionals from the Family Health Unit Dr. Carlos Santana – B.Doron Edlair Costa (dentist) and Nídia Márcia (nurse) who addressed the work process in the Family Health strategy.

The initiative was characterized as a "Pilot Project" of the Collective Health II curricular component, under the responsibility of professors Professor Augusto Cesar Costa Cardoso and Professor Aidê Nunes da Silva, being the result of discussions in planning and evaluation meetings, under the mediation of the professor Cristiane Magali, Coordinator of the Nursing Graduation.

The project's objective is to promote a reflexive rapprochement of the health policies addressed in the classroom with the current reality in Bahia and Brazil. The idea is that the students of the 3rd semester of Nursing experience in loco the role in the management of health care by nurses and other professional categories.

During the conversation circle, the students highlighted the advances and setbacks in the Unified Health System (SUS). “It is hoped, in this way, to promote the formation of critical, reflective nurses, as well as the partnership and innovative defense of the political/ethical commitments of the SUS”, emphasizes Prof. Aidê Nunes da Silva.

     
Aladilce Souza pointed out the milestones of Public Health in Brazil, noting that the current National Policy on Primary Care (PNAB) undermines the principles and guidelines of the Unified Health System. He also highlighted the importance of nursing, the second largest category of workers in the parents. "The dismantling of the SUS will certainly impact the management of care by nurses and other professional categories", said the councilor.

On the occasion, the professionals from the Dr. Carlos Santana Health Unit presented their work processes. "The nurse is recognized in the Family Health Unit as a professional capable of, through knowledge, skills and attitudes, promoting comprehensive and humanized care and interacting with the family and its community, promoting dialogue, health education and exchange of knowledge”, declared Nídia Márcia. Edlair Costa highlighted the importance of teamwork. “The discussion and construction of therapeutic plans are fundamental, understanding that the management of care permeates all professional categories”, he pointed out.

In the first semester of 2017, the students of the 3rd semester of Nursing visited the Dr. Carlos Santana Family Health Unit with the mediation of Professor Aidê Nunes da Silva. “On the occasion, the students got to know the physical structure and the professionals, as well as participated in a roundtable discussion about the work process developed there, advances and challenges”, he says.

Present at the event, Prof. Luciana Oliveira, coordinator of the Common Nucleus of Bahiana, highlighted the importance of the experience in the academics' training process.
