IV CAJU Forum

Share

Promote the mental health of young people in Salvador through programs and actions designed and developed together with them. This is how the Center for Attention to Youth (CAJU), an initiative of the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, has been working in partnership with other programs and institutions that have youth as their target audience.

In order to propose another round of conversation, it was held on October 27 at the Cabula Academic Unit IV CAJU Forum which, this year, brought the theme "Weaving Networks with Youth". Representatives of organizations working with young people were present, such as Rede Reprotai, Cipó Comunicação Interativa and the Youth Center for Science and Culture (CJCC). The People Development coordinator of the Bahiana, Luiza Ribeiro, professors and academics.

The coordinator of CAJU and professor of the Psychology course at Bahiana, Fábio Giórgio, explains that the center works through extension programs proposed by professors from Bahiana. In turn, the forums held by the program are the opportunity to get in touch with young people and other entities, in order to listen to their demands for the increment of actions in each program. "In the first forum, we mapped which institutions and young people have been making the youth 'scene' in the city. From that moment on, we got to know each institution, each group and identified how CAJU can contribute." The idea is for CAJU to become a service center. "We will have a physical space where workshops, courses and receptions will be held". According to Fábio Giórgio, the goal is to build a care network for young people in Salvador, mainly based on light care technologies.

Ives Qualha, professor at the CJCC, pointed out as enriching the experience promoted by CAJU integrating other institutions, such as public high school. "We are here with this commitment to being citizens, exercising our profession with dignity, not least because the public school is very stigmatized and I place myself here as an example that things are not quite like that. Therefore, I appreciate this invitation from Bahiana".

Luiza Ribeiro states that CAJU is a social responsibility initiative of the Bahiana, but, above all, it is the realization of a desire to contribute to society. "To the Bahiana, CAJU is the realization of a dream that portrays the concern it has as a training institution with the present and future of our country, because caring for young people is an obligation of all of us and the way in which CAJU proposes to make a network is stronger and more perennial so that these actions are not isolated, but join and strengthen, having a long life for the well-being of our youth".
