Professionals from psychology, psychopedagogy, pedagogy, physiotherapy, physical education, dance and movement study areas were gathered at the 1st Psychomotricity Conference of the Bahiana, which took place on September 23, at the Cabula Academic Unit.

With the theme "Trajectory and Perspectives of Psychomotricity in Bahia", the event was a realization of the specialization course in Psychomotricity of the postgraduate program at Bahiana, coordinated by Professor Maria Luisa Inguaggiato. She explains that the event aimed to revisit the history of psychomotricity in the state, also marking the resumption of the Brazilian Society of Psychomotricity – Bahia Chapter. Within the perspectives pointed out by the journey, it is understood the application of knowledge of psychomotricity both in pedagogical areas, with children and their education process, as in physical education, physiotherapy, speech therapy, psychology and related areas. "The approach of the specialization course of Bahiana it is an educational clinic and it is a first step towards having a vision of the psychomotrician, so that his work can be carried out – in any area, from the perspective of psychomotricity. It is an interdisciplinary course, in which pedagogues, speech therapists, physiotherapists, physical education professionals are involved".

The program opened with a dramatization of students from the specialization course, followed by the round table "Trajectory of Psychomotricity in Bahia", which had the participation of psychomotricians Vera Montano, Tereza Cristina Marinho, Taya Soledade and Alzira de Castro. Throughout the day, debates were held involving the participation of the audience and invited professionals.

Michele Pereira Barnabé, physiotherapist trained by Bahiana, says that he was already interested in psychomotricity and pointed out: "the course greatly expanded my vision for dealing with child development, allowed me to have a view from another angle, opened many horizons and allowed an improvement in professional practice".

The physical education teacher and former student of the specialization course in Psychomotricity at Bahiana, Agnaldo Fonseca de Oliveira, points out what this course offered him: "for me, as a physical educator, it was very enriching because I had just finished college and was looking only at the motor aspect. So, the course helped me in the way of observing classes and making changes in how to treat children".

Among the themes discussed in the journey were "Psychomotor skills on the path to prevention", "Psychomotor skills in clinical moments" and "Psychomotor skills as an interdisciplinary field: presentation of the CBT of students from class I".
