Born on the initiative of social movements, the National Day of Struggle for Persons with Disabilities promotes reflection, the expansion of rights and the search for solutions to issues that make a difference in the daily lives of many people.

The date was chosen to coincide with the celebration of Arbor Day, a symbol of renewal and life.
