Pain is the main reason for seeking health services. The high prevalence, the high costs generated and the great functional loss associated with chronic pain syndromes result in an important social and psychological impact, constituting a public health problem.
Interdisciplinary treatment for pain control is something established and encouraged by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). Thus, pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies act in this area of concentration, both in research and in care.
In this context, the Academic League Bahiana for the Study of Pain (LABED), affiliated to Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, has the great satisfaction of informing the organization of the First Day Bahiana for the Study of Pain, which will have as its central theme: "Pain: an interdisciplinary vision". This journey has the following objectives:
- Bring together researchers, educators and academics to update, debate and publicize pathophysiological processes and pain assessment, prevention and intervention;
- Strengthen the multi/interdisciplinary team in caring for patients with chronic pain;
- Clarify for the lay community affected by pain, the psychological, affective and behavioral aspects associated with this condition and alternatives for their self-control, preventing new injuries and worsening of the condition.
The event will have the participation of professionals and academics committed to the study of pain and the presence of Dr. Carlos Maurício de Castro Costa, vice president of the Brazilian Society for the Study of Pain (SBED) and current board member of the IASP.
Number of participants (estimate): 250
