VIII SCIENTIFIC AND CULTURAL EXHIBIT OF BAHIANA GATHERS 300 SCIENTIFIC PAPERS.

On September 26th and 27th, more than two thousand people, including students from the Bahiana, professors and visitors will be at the Cabula Academic Unit for the VIII Scientific and Cultural Exhibition. At the opening, which takes place at 08:30 am, at the Convention Center of the Bahiana – Auditorium I, a cine-debate will be held with the School Director, Profª. Maria Luisa Soliani and Prof. Ronald Palotta.  

The Scientific and Cultural Exhibition of Bahiana was created in 2000 with the objective of stimulating the scientific spirit and the importance of thinking and producing culture in the academic space, creating new senses and meanings for the teaching and learning process. Thus, in addition to being a time to welcome society and provide it with a social care service, it is also an opportunity for the academic community to report and share what it has been producing in the scientific and academic spheres.

In its eighth edition, the Mostra will feature 310 academic and scientific works. These are studies in the health area, carried out by undergraduate students who will pass through a panel composed of professors and graduate students. The academic program also includes mini-courses in the areas of Medicine, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Dentistry, Physiotherapy and Biomedicine (see schedule).

In a multidisciplinary space, medical care will be carried out with cardiorespiratory, anthropometric, flexibility and walking assessments. A vaccination post will also be available to the public.

Visitors will also be able to use the services of stands services such as Physiotherapy with "How is the pressure in your foot" e "Take care of your spine yourself", with the teacher, Ana Lúcia Góes; "Anatomical floor and uterus gravity prototypes", with prof. Alcina de Oliveira Teles; and "Prevention of Communicable Diseases" with the teachersas. Maiana Bião and Kaliane Pamponet.

 The Occupational Therapy course will be present with the stands "Information on pathologies", "Reflexology: afferent and efferent pathways" e "Dermato-functional physiotherapy", with prof. Rosângela Campos Machado; and "Toys and games adapted for people with visual impairments", with Prof. Sheila Correia Araújo.

The professor of Medicine, Regina Pinheiro (IBOPC) will be responsible for the stand "Eye health" and the Biointeraction Nucleus, from the Medicine course, participates with the Biointeraction Panel that will be presented by prof. Rita Elizabeth Mascarenhas.

There will also be exhibition stands for the sale of handicrafts, the result of social projects that the Bahiana performs throughout the year, such as the Grupo Arte Esperança Social Project, which works with the Candeal community, and guest projects, such as the Criamundo Social Project, which trains and encourages the production of handicrafts with interns at Hospital Juliano Moreira .


Social responsibility

September 26th (Friday)

Aiming at greater integration with society, the Bahiana, through MCC8, will receive audiences of different age groups, including students and those assisted by social entities. They will participate in socio-educational activities that will be carried out by students from the School's undergraduate courses, always supervised by teachers.

Starting at 09 am, preschool-age children from the Roberto Santos Hospital day care center will participate in the "First Aid Lecture". The activity, coordinated by Professor André Zimmerman, aims to inform, in a playful way, notions of simple rescue procedures, which must be carried out until the arrival of medical assistance.

At 10:30 and 14:XNUMX, in different groups, they participate in an oral health education workshop, coordinated by Professor Antônio Pitta. At this time, children will learn in a practical way, habits for good brushing. To complete the activities with the children's audience, the play will be performed “The Joãozinho story”, coordinated by Professor Maria Cristina Santana and staged by monitors of the Medicine course.

Students in the 2nd and 3rd years of high school at Colégio Estadual Roberto Santos will also participate in socio-educational activities prepared by MCC8. The program starts at 08:30 am with the screening of films, followed by a debate. For young people who are still in doubt about which professional career to pursue, a professional orientation activity will be carried out, with a team of psychologists and psychology students.

In the afternoon shift, at 14 pm, the teenagers visit the anatomy laboratory and then, at 15:30 pm, participate in the workshop “Taking care of the body”. Finally, the workshop will be held "Learn by Playing", in which students will work on personal hygiene.

At MCC8 there will also be space for adults. In this sense, caregivers of children with the HIV virus and adults who are HIV positive participate in socio-educational activities, assisted by the Beneficent Institution Conceição Macêdo. At 08:XNUMX am, the group starts activities with a brushing workshop, coordinated by Professor Antônio Pitta. Students will carry out prophylaxis actions – application of fluoride, brushing, assessment – ​​in patients who need special care. Visitors will also learn notions of first aid, in a workshop with students in the Medicine course, under the coordination of Professor André Zimmerman.

Saturday 27 (Saturday)

On Saturday, it will be the turn of the elderly from the Urban Social Center – CSU Narandiba to participate in the MCC8. They will be able to use all the services of the health stands. In addition, medical students, under the coordination of Professor Maria Cristina Santana, will be conducting a workshop on the full use of food, open especially for this group.
