Last Saturday, July 29, the Intercursos do Nucleo Comum Project – Biomorphology and Art took place at the Cabula da Academic Unit. Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.

The coordinator of the Common Core of the Bahiana, Luciana Oliveira, explains that it is made up of the curricular components of all courses except Psychology, as it has a curriculum that is different from the others. “The idea of the project is to bring students closer to art so that they can use it as a learning tool. Today, we know that learning only through lectures is not the only way to absorb content and bringing other active methodologies provides students with a much greater gain in relation to learning”.

During the event, freshmen were able to visit stations presented by monitors of Physiotherapy, Medicine and Dentistry courses. On the occasion, models, painting stations and drawings made by students of the School were presented.

Bruna Villas Boas, monitor of the 4th semester of the Neuroanatomy Medicine course, reports that the importance of the project is to bring art as a tool to improve teaching. “Art is interdisciplinary, it brings together different things and ends up motivating more students to learn the contents”.

“I found the project very interesting and there are many students who have different skills, for example, I love drawing and painting and stimulating other areas of the body and mind to develop knowledge is enriching. I visited the painting room, watched the anatomy lectures and saw the works of other students exhibited here, which added a lot to my vision of what is the Bahiana”, comments Erika Luiza, student of the 1st semester of the Dentistry course.

Moema Guimarães, professor of the Physiotherapy course at Bahiana, clarifies that “the objective of the activity is to present the Common Core and how these disciplines act with each other. We made a division in which we have an area where we show a resource for learning in Anatomy through body paint and through it we can visualize several muscles of the body in which we simulate the movements and the students see this painting moving”.
