On the morning of last Friday, July 21, the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública held another edition of Novos da Bahiana, freshmen reception ceremony. The meeting took place at 8 am in the auditorium of the Cabula Academic Unit and was headed by the coordinator of People Development, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro and the manager of the Psychopedagogical Care Center, Angélica Mendes. The ceremony began with a special performance by the Canta choir Bahiana, whose body of choirists is composed of students, professors, collaborators and guests.

The schedule continued with the presentation of each course carried out by undergraduate students accompanied by their respective coordinators. The Biomedicine course was presented by the 4th semester student Gabriela Grimaldi and the coordinator, Prof. Geraldo Argolo. The novelties of the Physical Education course, as well as the experiences lived in the activities carried out were presented by the student Rebeca Albuquerque from the 4th semester and by the coordinator, Prof. Clarkson Placido. In the Nursing course, the 5th semester student Thaynã Barbosa, accompanied by the coordinator, Prof. Cristiane Magali, presented the reality of professional training.

The recent graduate in Physiotherapy, Igor Alonso, led the presentation of the course alongside the coordinator Prof. Luciana Bilitário. The Medicine course was emotionally presented by the 11th semester student Venandra Andrade, accompanied by the coordinator Prof. Ana Verônica Mascarenhas Batista. The president of the student body of the latest edition of the Dentistry Day of Bahiana, Amanda Brandão, from the 8th semester, presented the Dentistry course alongside the coordinator Prof. Urbino Tunis. Finally, student Anaís Cavalcanti, from the 7th semester, shared her experience in the Psychology course accompanied by the coordinator Sylvia Barreto.

"It is important to share to create an expectation of academic growth within the Bahiana, because we arrive here very 'green' and without anything to believe, so when someone tells you that you are good, that you will be able to get where you are and have the support of the institution, I believe it makes all the difference", declares the future doctor, Venandra Andrade, who also points out as points that she will take with her in the future, security and respect for difference, believing in the other.

The value of interdisciplinary work was highlighted by coordinator Luciana Bilitário. According to her, everything that the Bahiana performs involves a concern with the professional that the institution trains to serve society. "We want to offer society this professional who recognizes himself in the other, who knows how to work together, who cares about the other person and is endowed with a social vision", he says.

Camila Verônica Souza Freire, a freshman in Medicine, says she has a charm for the institution. "This family relationship, this identity that they promise, I feel that it will be fulfilled, it calls my attention a lot. I really enjoyed the lecture and the presentation of my course".

Dentistry student Erika Luiza Cirne dos Reis says she chose Dentistry since high school. For her, the selective training process of Bahiana it's innovative. "I've never seen this at another college. I found it very welcoming. I found it very welcoming to Bahiana in general, as I come from a small school, I felt very comfortable here," he says.

As at the beginning of the year, the theme addressed in this edition was the leading role in health, with the main attraction being the lecture "Entrepreneurial Attitudes: creating an impact on health" which was given by the co-founder of Din4mo Inovadores de Impacto, Marcel Fukayama. In his speech, he shared with the students of Bahiana his life story and presented the role of the entrepreneur and the impacts that innovative projects have been achieving in the world, especially in the health area.
