NEOJIBA Orchestra celebrates ten years with Arnaldo Antunes

It is with great joy that the Bahiana promotes the show that celebrates the tenth anniversary of the State Nucleus of Youth and Children's Orchestras of Bahia (NEOJIBA). 

A great partner of our school, NEOJIBA will perform an unprecedented presentation for the Salvadoran audience, alongside the renowned singer and composer Arnaldo Antunes, who has accompanied the orchestra since 2010 and was the creator of the logo that is used until today. The event will be held on August 04th (Friday), at 20:30 pm, at Ceremonial Rainha Leonor (Pupileira), in the neighborhood of Nazaré. 

“It will be a meeting between a great artist of Brazilian popular music and a youth who seeks to innovate through orchestral practice. Both have a daring vision and an aesthetic concern for beauty and construction”, points out conductor Ricardo Castro, founder and general director of the program Núcleos Estaduais de Orquestras Juvenis e Infantis da Bahia program. 

Arnaldo Antunes says he is very flattered and happy with the invitation to a performance with the NEOJIBA Orchestra in Salvador. “I was very impressed with the quality of the orchestra and the pioneering work developed in the musical education of these young people from Bahia. I had the opportunity to attend some of her concerts (one of them in London) and followed the exquisite and dedicated work of conductor Ricardo Castro in front of her, during a visit to a rehearsal in Bahia. I'm already curious, sure that it will be a huge emotion to sing with this very special accompaniment”, emphasizes Antunes.

In addition to compositions from his most recent album, "Já É" (2015), Arnaldo Antunes and the NEOJIBA Orchestra will play tracks that marked his trajectory with the Titãs, such as "No Vou me Adaptar" and "Comida", and his solo career, such as "Saiba" and "My Heart". The repertoire also includes songs consolidated from partnerships and works with Os Tribalistas, such as the song "Vilarejo" (Arnaldo Antunes, Carlinhos Brown, Marisa Monte and Pedro Baby), released 11 years ago in the voice of Marisa Monte. The Bahian musician, Jamberê Cerqueira, founding member of NEOJIBA, is responsible for the orchestral arrangement of the songs that make up the repertoire of the show in Salvador.

The show will mark 10 years of the program in Bahia, in addition to its partnership with Santa Casa da Bahia. The funds raised from the presentation will be used to assist in the maintenance and sustainability of NEOJIBA and will also be directed to social assistance activities that benefit around 2 people continuously.
