World Blood Donor Day was created by the World Health Organization (WHO) to remind people of the importance of a gesture that can save lives. The date marks the birthday of Karl Landsteiner, Nobel Prize for the discovery of the ABO blood group system. According to the WHO, regular donation by 1% of people would be enough to meet the basic demands of blood in a population.

In 2017, the campaign will focus on blood donation in emergency situations. In the face of such occurrences, our natural reaction is to look for a way to help. And you know what you can do to help – even before an emergency happens.

Donate blood. Donate now. Always donate!
