More than a simple formality, the moment was one of great emotion. The 4th semester students of the Dentistry course at Bahiana participated in the Triumphal Entrance, on March 28, at the institution's Dentistry Clinic, a moment that determines the beginning of the practical activities of the Child Clinic I curricular component. To mark the occasion, a Hip Hop presentation was held with Gabriel's collaborators Silva, "Salvi" (NTI), Thomás Daltro, in the scene known as Tom VX (Administration of the Cabula Academic Unit) and guest Felipe Ballester. The initiative was coordinated by the subject teachers Ana Carla Robatto, Iza Peixoto and Tatiana Frederico.

"We always do this event to mark the entrance of the 1st clinic, the first year of contact with the patient. This time, we brought some art from the periphery, which is Hip Hop", said Prof. Ana Carla. According to her, the idea was prepare students for closer contact with patients who experience different situations and difficulties in their lives. “There was a very nice combination with the participation of two of our collaborators with their own compositions and what we wanted, in fact, was to bring a little bit of reality for our students, so that they have a broader vision of comprehensive care for the human being. We do not want to train only technicians, we want to train professionals who value comprehensive care for the patient", he justifies.

During their passage through the Child Clinic component I, students will work in pairs, assisting children from 6 to 12 years old, when they will be able to carry out oral health promotion procedures (oral hygiene guidance, fluortherapy, diet guidance, pit and fissure sealing ) and multiple tooth restorations using a less invasive technique that bring less discomfort to the patient.

In addition to professors, coordinators and student monitors, the coordinator of People Development, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro and the coordinator of the Dentistry course, Prof. Urbino Tunis. "This moment is a milestone in which the course records the transition from the basic training cycle to the clinical cycle, in which they will be treating patients, having this experience of an effective professional exercise and even adding value, from the point of view of view of humanistic training. They learn how to conduct care with the patient who is under their responsibility, caring and often returning self-esteem, self-confidence and happiness to these people", says Tunes.

the first contact

"We are very happy, it is our first contact with the patient. We saw a lot of theory to be prepared for practice today. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the professors, because they prepare us a lot for this moment and they know we are ready. We hope to give this feedback to the professors. patients", declares the group leader, Jaíle Leite Campos. She also points out the importance of presenting Hip Hop as a call to the different realities that they will experience. "This is the time to experience the patient's reality that is different from ours. In addition to taking the care we should have, the Bahiana teaches us to look not just at a mouth, it's the patient's body, it's looking at him as a whole."

According to student Antônio Nunes Rosa Neto, before carrying out the activity, he was very apprehensive about how his interaction with patients would be. "I was very nervous, because I didn't know how this contact with the child would be, if she would be very agitated, but we have to know how to deal with all situations. Even with all the nervousness, I came prepared to welcome that child in the best way possible, welcoming the mother, being as human as possible with those people, trying to teach as much information as possible to improve their oral hygiene."

Artistic participation in the Triunfal Entrance was also remarkable for collaborator Thomás Daltro, "Tom VX". He says that music entered his life in a decisive way, taking him out of the accommodation of the TV-Computer generation and making him a protagonist of his own life. Tom says that Hip Hop provides this reflection against the different social realities in Brazil. "We can add so much to the issue of collective perception, because it's not just about taking the person from the periphery to rhyme and help, if we don't reach the other side, the "developed", nothing will change. So, the idea is bring this message to the students of Bahiana".
