Rebecca Albuquerque, a 3rd semester student of the Physical Education course, received the gold medal at the European Championship 2017 Jiu-Jitsu, held between January 20th and 24th. The competition is one of the biggest global events in the sport, held by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF), in Portugal.

The student claims that the institution and its Fight Club team played an important role in this achievement, as Physical Education became a passion in her life. He reiterates that it was thanks to jiu-jitsu - and to his master Marcelo Villas Boas - that he was able to learn about the Physical Education course and Bahiana.

“I decided that I wanted Physical Education for the graduation of my life due to the influence of the course coordinator, Clarcson Plácido, and, because of him, I learned a lot about what is institutional interaction with professors and employees of the Bahiana, teaching classes for children and teenagers in the jiu-jitsu social project, a partnership between the course and the Fight Club MVB team.”

For Rebecca, the school contributed to her becoming a differentiated athlete, due to the structure and curriculum that the Bahiana offers. “The gold medal and the European champion title are mine together with Bahiana and Fight Club MVB, because we are all Bahiana".
