The student and professional protagonism, a trait that marks the academic formation of the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, was the theme of the inaugural class of the 2017.1 semester of New from Bahiana which took place on Friday, January 27, at the Cabula Academic Unit. Welcomed by the singing of the choir Sings Bahiana and by the words of the coordinator of People Development, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro, and the manager of the Psychopedagogical Care Center (NAPP), Angélica Mendes, hundreds of students from the courses of Biomedicine, Physical Education, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medicine, Dentistry and Psychology, parents, teachers and employees participated in a large meeting which had as its main point a chat with the co-founder of Din4mo Inovadores de Impacto, Marcel Fukayama.

This year, for the first time, the courses were presented by coordinators accompanied by veteran students who briefly reported their experience in the course, from the curriculum to the projects, research, the various learning and interaction opportunities that the Bahiana offers. Thus, the Biomedicine course was presented by the coordinator Prof. Geraldo Argolo, accompanied by 7th semester student Camila Chames; Physical Education, by the coordinator Prof. Clarcson Plácido and 2nd semester student Robson Santana; Nursing, by 4th semester student Thaynã Costa and coordinator Prof. Cristiane Magali; Physiotherapy, by the 9th semester student Igor Alonso and by the coordinator Prof. Luciana Bilitário; Medicine, by the coordinator Prof. Ana Verônica Mascarenhas Batista and the 10th semester student Venandra Andrade; Dentistry, by the coordinator Prof. Urbino Tunes and 9th semester student Marcos Rios; Psychology, by coordinator Sylvia Barreto and student Anaís Cavalcanti, from the 5th semester.

"Bahiana is much more than I expected. What surprises me here is the joy, the happiness of the people who work and who study, because they like to be here. This is fundamental for me," declared Igor Alonso, who took the opportunity to leave a tip for the Novos Bahianos: "You have to study. This is a fact. All students will need to study sooner or later, but they must also be involved in extension projects, be active in college, enjoy what the Bahiana can offer. This is the way to success".

The main theme of the meeting was the lecture "Entrepreneurial Attitudes: Creating a Social Impact on Health", given by the young entrepreneur and CEO of the Dín4mo project incubator, Marcel Fukayama. In addition to telling his life story, Marcel presented the profile, the role of the entrepreneur and the impacts that innovative projects have been achieving in the world, especially in the health area .

"Entrepreneurs have a series of fundamental characteristics, among which I would highlight resilience, the ability to solve problems, to mobilize. These attitudes will help them achieve the changes they want, expand the impact of their work. Now, if you will. combining the entrepreneurial profile with the health professional is even better, because, if you can think of all this in an innovative way, we will be able to have new ways of serving the patient and bringing more quality to these lives. I think it is very important for the current moment in which we live is one of great transformations", he explains.

It identifies, in the Bahiana, a great incentive to the entrepreneurial profile in the health professional. "THE Bahiana it has a great advantage in offering young people a space for them to get to know themselves. Here is a space for great personal development for this young person who will one day be a health professional. And not only that, it allows young people to understand what they need to develop and what role they will have as a health professional. He may be more or less entrepreneurial, but to develop this role, he first has to get to know himself."

According to Angelica Mendes, what led to Bahiana inviting Marcel Fukayama to this meeting with the institution's youth was the common worldview between the two institutions. "There is a communion of what entrepreneurship is for the Bahiana and for Dín4mo, today represented in the figure of Marcel Fukatayama. There is an understanding of what it is to be an entrepreneur that permeates the individual's values and mission in the world. These are paths that cross and we are starting a partnership with them to broaden and deepen our social projects, a union that will make us even stronger."

The entire program for welcoming new students, from the experience, during the Training Selection Process (Prosef), until the first day as students of Bahiana, enchanted students Lucas Antônio Jesus de Souza (Physical Education) and Ana Marta Faria (Medicine) who have good expectations regarding the institution.

"I'm already graduated and licensed and came to do a bachelor's degree in Physical Education here at Bahiana. Where I studied, my colleagues and I didn't have that kind of welcome. We didn't have this perspective of being in the health area. Until then, we didn't feel in the middle of health. We came to seek a greater complement to what we need to learn and I believe that the Bahiana will give that knowledge. We were even surprised by the social programs here, as we thought they only existed in public institutions like UFBA. And I was super enchanted with these programs," says Lucas.

For Ana Marta, humanistic training was what most caught her attention. "I think everything will be very different from what I've studied so far, not only because they are new subjects, but because of the method. I'm really enjoying what they're introducing me to, especially the humanistic part that I really see. My father is. doctor, he is my professional reference, and he fits the profile that they are offering here".
