Bahiana participates in the fourth edition of the ParaPraia project

Starting next weekend, the action promotes assisted bathing in the sea for the disabled and people with reduced mobility.

This weekend (January 7th and 8th), from 9 am to 13 pm, the fourth edition of ParaPraia will start on the beach in São Tomé de Paripe. Since 2014, the project has promoted assisted bathing in the sea for people with physical disabilities or reduced mobility, having served around a thousand people in its three editions.  

The action is carried out using adapted chairs and the monitoring of undergraduate students and professors from the Bahiana. This year, the project will encompass Physical Education, Psychology, Nursing, Medicine and Physiotherapy courses at Bahiana, whose training of volunteers lasted three days in which the importance of listening and guidance to bathers was addressed, as well as training to support the assisted

As every year, beach access lanes and tents, in addition to special restrooms, will be set up for recreational activities.

From the following weekend, the activities will take place at Ondina beach - in front of the Baiano Rehabilitation Institute (IBR) - and will continue until February 12th.

The project has the support of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, Salvador City Hall and Jornal A Tarde, and sponsorship of Salvador Shopping and Braskem.
