"Culture, Art and Mental Health: new and old technologies of care" was the theme of the III Forum of the Youth Care Center (CAJU), held on October 28, at the Academic Unit Cabula da Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.

The event promoted a dialogue between leading professionals in the field and students, as well as between communities and social movements linked to youth. The focus was on building a mental health service aligned with the needs and demands of young people in their territories.

CAJU is coordinated by the Psychology course professor at Bahiana, Fábio Giorgio Azevedo, with support from the faculty's faculty, Marta Vanessa Souza, Milena Lisboa, Lidiane Guedes, Myla Arouca and Simone Cardoso Passos.

According to the coordinator, the theme addressed in the third edition of the event inspired the theoretical-methodological pillars and the objective of the meeting was achieved, as it was possible to experience, in theory and in practice, the possible effects of the arts, light technologies, Integrative Practices and Complementary (PICs) and knowledge of cultural traditions, in promoting mental health. “We deepened the debate and knowledge based on the development of care technologies in the field of youth health and, therefore, we chose this theme for the CAJU Forum, which is a space for exchanging knowledge, knowledge and experiences”.

On the occasion, rounds of conversations about art, culture and mental health were held, mediated by Prof. Dr. Wilson Senne, from the Psychology Institute of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). The Professor of Bahiana Dr. Renata Roseghini spoke about integrative and complementary health practices; Prof. Dr. João André, from the UFBA Faculty of Medicine, spoke about the role of light technologies and, finally, Prof. Dr. Vanda Machado, master in education from UFBA, discussed about self-care from the perspective of knowledge of oral tradition.

During the afternoon, workshops and experiences with specific themes were also held, discussing yoga and meditation as tools for self-knowledge, medicinal plants, black aesthetics, among others.

CAJU is an extension project of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública which aims to promote the mental health of young people aged 15 to 29, within the perspective of human rights, in line with public policies and social movements aimed at youth. He understands art, culture and mental health as fundamental elements for the development of young people. It is a center of innovative activities with exclusive attention to young people from Bahia. The initiative emerges with an interdisciplinary proposal for a space to promote mental health.
