For the second time in a row, Atlética Bahiana of Medicine was Intermed Bahia's general champion. The event, which is in its second edition, took place from October 12th to 15th, at the headquarters of the Banco do Brasil Athletic Association (AABB), in the Piatã neighborhood, in Salvador.

The team Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública won gold medals in women's and men's handball, men's futsal, women's volleyball and swimming.

Intermed is a multi-sport event that brings together nine medical schools in the state of Bahia and promotes competitions in basketball, handball, futsal, volleyball, jiu-jitsu, table tennis, swimming and social events.

Professor Clarkson Plácido, coordinator of the Physical Education course at Bahiana explains that Intermed's objective is to promote integration between medical courses and encourage the practice of sports. Due to the implementation and proposal that the course has at the School, Plácido was invited by the direction to help the members of Atlética.

"Throughout this time, I have been trying to mediate and facilitate the dialogue to establish possible partnerships between the Bahiana and this group that has its own management, but which is integrated into the academy”, points out the coordinator.

For Hanna de Barros Dratovsky, a member of Atlética and a student of the 7th semester of the Medicine course, having participated in Intermed allowed her to improve her integration with other students at the School.

In this second edition, Dratovsky was part of the handball, volleyball and swimming teams. “Living Intermed is a unique experience, not only for the event, for sports and because we reinforce a love for college by rooting for our colleagues, but also for the preparation, with training and meetings almost weekly”, says the student and adds: “I do today I know a lot more people in college from other semesters and I do regular physical activities”.
