Psychology students from Bahiana participated in a marathon of lectures and roundtables on internships and work camps, within the 8th Internship and Work Preparation Seminar (SEPET). The event took place on the morning of October 5th, at the Academic Unit Brotas, and was attended by guest psychologists and course professors who presented the multiple practices of psychology in the various professional segments.

The opening was held by the coordinator of the Psychology course, professor Sylvia Barreto, and by professor Ana Aparecia Martinelli Braga, internship coordinator in Psychology at Bahiana.

In addition to promoting learning through the exchange of experiences with professionals working in the area, SEPET also seeks to improve, in the student, the skills expected for the performance of an ethical and humanistic professional practice in different environments of society.

Professor Sylvia Barreto highlighted the importance of the event “because this is a delicate moment that has to do with the choice that the student wants to make and which skills he will develop so that he can later enter the world of work”. She explained that, in the Bahiana, emphasis is given to psychology in the fields of work and health and that, for the inclusion of students in internship vacancies, the institution has agreements with several spaces in the work area: public and private companies, NGOs and consultancies focused on work area, human resources, people management and occupational medicine. "In the emphasis on health, we also have other spaces with agreements, such as public and private hospitals, CAPS and mental health clinics".

Ana Aparecida explained that, in the Bahiana, the student can opt for an internship in an extended clinic, in which, in addition to attending patients in the office, he has the practice of groups and, necessarily, in outpatient clinics. “The student can work, from the waiting room to the multidisciplinary follow-up with colleagues from other areas. There are 16 hours of practice, weekly, with a wide diversity that enriches your training as a psychologist”.

Sylvia Barreto pointed out that the Psychology curriculum of Bahiana is the only one in Brazil to guarantee placement in internships for 100% of its students from the last few years. “There is no internship modality in any Psychology course in Brazil. So, in the 4th year, we have 100% of our students circulating in large areas: 10 weeks in an outpatient clinic, 10 in a basic health unit and 10 in a hospital, in the HR area”.

The program highlighted the practices of psychology in primary, secondary and tertiary care and consisted of presentations by invited speakers. The psychologist from the Psychology Service of the Diabetes and Endocrinology Center of the State of Bahia (CEDEBA), Michele Vieira, presented the practice of psychology in secondary care within the public agency, pointing to the strengthening of the partnership between the educational institution and the SUS as one of the strengths of SEPET. “The seminar is interesting because it offers students to learn about other practices, in addition to those offered by their educational institution. It is an exchange that strengthens the partnership between the SUS and the faculty and, therefore, it is a double positive practice”.

The 10th semester student Laíse Lima participated in the presentation of the lecture “Psychology in the world of work”, in which the experience of the internship in the personnel sector of Hospital Humberto Castro Lima was reported. “SEPET's place is precisely to bring knowledge, security, new possibilities that lead us to realize that psychologists, yes, have different fields of activity and that they will always have a rewarding and very rich performance. THE Bahiana it is a higher education institution that allows us to walk in practice. In the first semester, we are already in practice and the internship will allow you to grow and take ownership, to align theory and practice”.

The themes were also presented: Psychology Practices in Primary Care, with teachers Nádia Maurícia Matos (CCVP) and Lavínia Boaventura Silva (Candeal Program); Psychology Practices in Tertiary Care, with guest psychologists Alice Leal (Hospital Roberto Santos) and Suzane Bandeira (Hospital Aristides Maltez); The importance of personal work in the training of psychologists with the manager of the Pedagogical Care Center (NAPP), Angélica Mendes and Ruth Aragão, from the Pedagogical Supervision Center (NUSP); report of alumni activities with Madalena Santos who approached the Continuing Education Program (PEC) and Raquel Malheiros who spoke about her experience in private practice.
