General secretary of the "Slow Medicine" movement that emerged in Italy three years ago, the doctor explains that the initiative's slogan defends a sober, respectful and fair medicine. values, expectations and the patient's wishes, not imposing aggressive and fair medicine because it is egalitarian so that everyone can have access to the cure in the same way. Your participation in the symposium includes two lines: "The value of uncertainty in medical thinking – Value of uncertainty in medical thinking" and "The paradox of popularity (the cases for breast and prostate screening) – The paradox of popularity (prostate and breast screening)".

"International and Brazilian Choosing Wisely – Choosing Wisely in Brazil and in the world" and "The strange world of conflict of interests in medicine – The strange world of conflicts of interest in medicine", will be the speeches of the other guest, doctor Guilherme Brauner Barcellos (RS), pioneer of the Hospital Medicine Movement in Brazil and Latin America and coordinator of Choosing Wisely Brasil.

The program will also include the lectures "Perceived safety in screening for coronary disease – Perceivable safety in screening for coronary disease", with the adjunct professor at Bahiana, member of Choosing Wisely Brasil and editor of the Evidence-Based Medicine Blog, Dr. Luiz Cláudio Correia who will also coordinate the module "Medical Thinking", and "Bahiana's Medical Choosing Wisely Campaign – Choosing Wisely in the Campaign Bahiana", with the cardiologist and member of Choosing Wisely Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, Marília Menezes. Choosing Wisely

Based on a campaign conducted by the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation (ABIM), the Choosing Wisely initiative began in 2011, when several North American associations from different medical specialties presented lists of procedures used in an excessive and, consequently, inappropriate manner. Another point proposed by the initiative is the articulation of the professional responsibilities of physicians, which includes a commitment to improving academic training and, as a result, the quality of health care, taking into account the improvement of communication between physicians and patients, as well such as advocating fair and cost-effective distribution of restricted health resources, thus promoting safer and more effective care delivery.
