The field of Integrative and Complementary Practices (PICs) includes complex medical systems and therapeutic resources, which are also called by the World Health Organization (WHO) traditional and complementary/alternative medicine (MT/MCA). These systems and resources involve approaches that seek to stimulate the natural mechanisms of disease prevention and health recovery through effective and safe technologies, with an emphasis on welcoming listening, the development of the therapeutic bond and the integration of the human being with the environment and the society. Other points shared by the various approaches covered in this field are the expanded view of the health-disease process and the global promotion of human care, especially self-care.

With the publication of the National Policy on Integrative and Complementary Practices (PNPIC), homeopathy, medicinal and herbal plants, traditional Chinese medicine/acupuncture, anthroposophical medicine and social thermalism-crenotherapy were institutionalized in the Unified Health System (SUS) .

The activity is coordinated by the Institution's professors, Renata Roseghini, Monica da Cunha Oliveira, Lavínia Boaventura, Gerfson Oliveira and will bring lectures and round tables on the implementation of Integrative and Complementary Practices in the state of Bahia, and will also have a moment of discussion and planning a space that enables the integration between professionals of integrative practices of the Bahiana.

Registration will be free and more information can be obtained from the Graduate, Research and Innovation and Extension Department, at the Academic Unit Brotas and at the Cabula Academic Unit.
