medical students from Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, UNEB, Unifacs, Unime, UESC and PUC-São Paulo participated from 15 to 17 September at the Cabula Academic Unit of II Journey of Medical Anatomy of Bahia – JAMEB. The event was held by the Center for Teaching and Research in Anatomy (NEPA), coordinated by the professor of the Medicine course at Bahiana, Rinaldo Antunes Barros.

On the first day of JAMEB, the pre-day was held with an extensive program consisting of courses taught by NEPA and the academic leagues of General Medicine (LAMEG), Scientific Methodology and Biostatistics, Applied Neurosciences (LANA), Clinical Anatomy ( LAAC) and Radiology and Applied Imaging (LAR).

To make the start of the day's program official, a ceremony was held on the night of September 15, presided over by Professor Rinaldo Antunes Barros, together with the Dean of Extension of the Bahiana, Prof. Carolina Pedroza, and the coordinator of the Medicine course, Prof. Dr. Ana Verônica Mascarenhas Batista.

During the night, the professors and guest speakers Raimundo Nonato, Thais Fagundes, Bruno Goes, Diego Rabelo, Rinaldo Barros, José Alberto Maldonado, Genaro Novaes, Livia Nossa, Marcos Pondé, Ronaldo Barros, Carolina Lins and Conceição were honored by NEPA members. Maria Guedes Crozara. On the occasion, the magna conference “Ethical Profile of Medical Students and Resident Physicians – Legal Responsibilities under the Perspective of CFM” was also given by the digestive tract surgeon, Dr. Isac Jorge Filho.

"It is a pleasure to host this second journey and this initiative honors us because it brings to the Bahiana an anatomy study reference. It is also very important because it is carried out by academics who gain more knowledge for their training, either because of the programmatic content, or because of the experience acquired in the organization and in all the dynamics that an event of this size requires", declared Carolina Pedroza.

Student protagonism was also highlighted by Lucas Mendes, a 6th semester student of Medicine and a member of NEPA. "We work as a very strong group, making the student an active subject in the process and this is very important, because we end up growing personally outside the academic environment as well". He points out that there was an evolution from last year to this year, leading the members of the group to learn from mistakes and also from successful actions.

According to Professor Rinaldo, "the journey is an annual event and, in this edition, we focus on the importance of medical anatomy in the specialties. The objective is to bring a view of anatomy to academics, showing its clinical applicability".
In turn, the coordinator of the Medicine course, Professor Ana Verônica, highlighted the importance of studying anatomy for the good performance of medical activity. "This is an extremely important event, as it is another action that is consolidating itself as a learning tool for our students and anatomy is fundamental to consolidate knowledge and open the student to the various possibilities of practicing Medicine".
