“Psychology – From Whom & To Whom” was the theme of the special program held by the Psychology course at Bahiana, which took place on August 24, at the Academic Unit Brotas. The meeting brought together psychologists, students, teachers and Academic Leagues from Bahiana, in honor of the Psychologist's Day, whose date is celebrated on the 27th of August.

“The event was collectively built with the involvement of our students and Academic League participants. The presentations and discussions were pertinent, exposing the potential of our students, revealing a critical, reflective psychology that is attentive to human rights”, declared the coordinator of the Psychology course, Prof. Sylvia Barreto.

Throughout the program, a round table was held with the participation of psychologists Debora Ferraz, Marta Lilian Oliveira, Veridiana Machado and Ricardo Moura.
Invited by the Academic League of Racial Relations (LARR) to participate in the debate, Veridiana Machado reported her experience as a psychologist, in the context of racial issues. “The Psychologist's Week encourages this reflection on psychology as a science and profession, with effective student participation. It is an extremely commendable initiative, mainly due to the distribution of themes that are emerging in the debate”, he declares.

The psychologist from the Psychopedagogical Care Center (NAPP), Débora Ferraz, reported that the program initiative was relevant for the movement of students as protagonists in the debates. “The themes chosen were relevant in relation to the reality of psychology nowadays, contributing to the training of psychologists and expansion of the practice of psychology”, he explains.

Ricardo Moura pointed out the concern of Bahiana with the formation, qualification and expansion of knowledge of the Psychology course students. "THE Bahiana has been standing out in the creation of the Leagues, allowing the consolidation of knowledge and exchange of knowledge, as well as the elaboration of events that are not restricted to students of the house, but also to students from other institutions and professionals who attended the School”.

During the morning, workshops developed by the Academic Leagues of the Bahiana encompassing the themes, 'School Psychology and Inclusion' (Academic League of School Psychology – LAPES), 'Why science was born sexist' (Academic League of Sexuality and Gender – LASG), 'Glossary of racial expressions' (Academic League of Race Relations – LARR) and 'Strategies and Contexts' (Academic Harm Reduction League – LARD).

“The Academic Leagues play a leading role in creating a territory that is supplementary to that of formal training, therefore, the work developed by each of them must be made visible based on the objective that each one proposes”, explains the coordinator of the event and professor of the Psychology course , Anna Amelia de Faria.

The member of the Academic League LAPES, Fernanda Abreu, student of the 6th semester of the Psychology course, highlights the joint work of the leagues and the role of the students themselves in the production of knowledge as positive points of the experience. “The focus of the leagues is precisely to expand the student's curriculum by debating topics that are not much discussed during graduation and it is very interesting to have an event like this, made by us”, he concludes.
