On October 21st and 22nd, the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública promotes the II Colloquium on the Health of the Black Population, at the Cabula Academic Unit. The initiative is the result of a partnership between the Full Life Community Complex (CCVP), the Hólon Society and the Medicine course of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.

The meeting was proposed in commemoration of the National Day of Pro-Health Mobilization of the Black Population, celebrated on October 27th, aimed at undergraduate, graduate, faculty and health professionals, and will provide a space for dialogue and socialization of care practices aimed at the black population, integrating public policies and legislation focused on the context of health and clinical management. Its target audience is the academic community, believing itself to be the protagonist in the process of materializing the change in the health care model that prioritizes comprehensiveness and equity in the care of the black population.

Health of the Black Population

The health of the black population is a topic that has been discussed in order to provoke reflection and action on health inequities. Health professionals need to be aware of the epidemiological profile of this population in order to properly conduct the care process, promoting access, comprehensiveness and quality of care.

The National Comprehensive Health Policy for the Black Population (PNISPN) aims to promote the integral health of this population, prioritizing the reduction of ethnic-racial inequalities, combating racism and discrimination in the institutions and services of the Unified Health System (SUS) . In its general guidelines, the PNISPN presents the inclusion of the themes Racism and Health of the Black Population in the processes of training and permanent education of health workers and in the exercise of social control in health.

The II Colloquium on the health of the black population is coordinated by professors Karine de Souza Oliveira Santana, Lavínia Boaventura and Eleonora Peixinho. 200 places will be made available and registrations will be carried out between September 12 and October 10 through the donation of a book to the CCVP library.
