Bahiana supports Escolinha de Atletismo Flamengo in the 4th Stage of the Bahia CAIXA Adult Athletics Championship

Teachers, students and employees of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública are in the crowd for the athletes of the Flamengo Athletics School who participated in the 4th Stage of the Bahia CAIXA Adult Athletics Championship, held on June 5, at SESI Simões Filho.

"An experience of companionship is what we witness alongside this group who, with many difficulties, train, move in a precarious situation, often, and compete diligently, brightening the championships in which they participate, as they are on the podium in all modalities that compete, many of them, in 1st or 2nd place”, reports the coordinator of the Psicopedagógica Care Nucleus (NAPP), Angélica Mendes.

During the championship, the technical trainer and coordinator of Escolinha do Flamengo, Antônio Ferreira Bonfim (Ferreirinha) and the entire delegation were welcomed and received at the residence of one of the students of the Medicine course at Bahiana, Sarah Coelho, with a lunch organized by her and her family, with the contribution and participation of students and teachers from Bahiana, in addition to neighbors.

"I found out that the delegation competitions were close to my house and, so, I thought it would be better to collect food and open the doors of my residence with the approval of 'mainha' and my grandfather, so that our home could serve as a welcoming space, rest, replenishment of energy, encouragement, mutual care and love for athletes. I learned at home that this is our mission as Christians and citizens”, reports the student, who explains that experiences like these enable health students to perceive the different aspects of life that coexist and condition people's existence.

Sarah also highlights the gain in the experience of humanization combined with medical technique. "Activities like this are essential to open up the range of possibilities and logics of life that the student knows so that the expanded clinic, listening, the exchange of sociocultural knowledge are increasingly solid as a need for medical practice with regard to to the union of humanization and technique, which does not remain silent, choose or speak for the other. This is the main learning”.

Students, professors and employees of the Bahiana, as well as children and friends who came with the group. "An afternoon of joy, vibration, solidarity and, above all, learning and it is with these values ​​and many others that we can experience alongside Ferreirinha, his family and friends who help him in this rewarding journey that is to rescue, prepare and launch for the world of athletics these young people are so talented and warriors”, explains Angélica Mendes.

The coordinator of Pet Biomedicine, Prof. Sidney Santana reports that the partnership of Bahiana with the Flamengo Athletics School, it helps to fulfill the mission that the institution has with social responsibility, contributing to the sociocultural development of the communities.

“Through these actions, it is possible to value the importance of occupational health education to promote the health of athletes, in addition to developing collaborative activities with the institution's students who participated in the event, carrying out interdisciplinary actions, developing interpersonal skills in the community,” he explains. .

In May, a delegation with professors, students and staff from Bahiana were in Jaguarari, the municipality where the Escolinha de Atletismo Flamengo is headquartered. On the occasion, health promotion and education activities were carried out for the athletes and their families, in addition to a series of assessments to verify the athletes' performance with a battery of tests.
