“The studio is an old dream, we've been working on this proposal for about two years, from physical space to the devices, and now we've got a complete studio that will provide a huge gain for both the Brotas and for the academic community", reported the coordinator of the Physiotherapy course at Bahiana, Prof. Luciana Bilitário who was present at the inauguration of the Pilates studio that took place on June 3, at the Advanced Physiotherapy Clinic (CAFIS) of the Teaching-Assistential Outpatient Clinic of Bahiana, in the Academic Unit Brotas.

With a differentiated service, the institution opens a fully equipped space providing Pilates for all age groups with the help of professional physiotherapists who have a specific look to work on alignment, biomechanical corrections and rehabilitation. Classes with up to five students and individualized lesson plans will be offered.

During the program, a demonstration was presented with the instructors on the devices and were present the Graduate Pedagogical Advisor, Silvia Passos, the collaborators Geisa Arlete and Marcia Moreira, the coordinator of the Psychology Service of the ADAB, Myla Arouca, the coordinator of the Occupational Therapy Service (SERTO), Sofia Campos and some CAFIS patients.

“We will offer individualized lesson plans, enabling instructors to work on the progression and correction of the exercises, making this student reach other stages”, explains physiotherapist and CAFIS manager, Janaina Pitanga.

According to the patient at CAFIS, Maria Nelma Souza, the Pilates studio is an innovation in the institution, as it brings a proposal for classes that are well-targeted to students.

“I really liked the space, well equipped and I think it will bring many improvements to the community in general, as the classes will be taught by physiotherapists trained to meet our needs”, he concludes.
