“We are celebrating this 15th edition of JOBA as an important milestone. She is a debutante, she is 15 years old, but she is an adult. It is a consolidated event with a grandiose participation of students from Bahiana and other faculties with a spectacular scientific program with many articles and works that are presented, in addition to a very good commercial exhibition, the good level of conferences, all of this making Joba an absolute success", reports the coordinator of the course in Dentistry, Prof. Urbino Tunes, who was present on the 19th and 20th at the 15th edition of the Jornada Odontológica da Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, at the Cabula Academic Unit.

The event brought together professors and students from various undergraduate courses in Dentistry in the state with the aim of spreading scientific knowledge, in addition to the presentation of papers, seminars, courses, conferences, hands-on and workshops.

The opening ceremony commemorated the 15 years of JOBA and a video was shown with the presence of all student coordinators and teachers of the journey. The ceremony was also attended by this year's coordinator of the faculty, Prof. Livia Prates; of the Research and Innovation coordinator of the Bahiana, Prof. Dr. Atson Fernandes; Prof. Dr. Maurício Barreto; Dr. Luciano Castellucci, representing the Association Bahiana of Dentistry (ABO); Dr. Ana Carla Robatto, representing the 9st Pediatric Dentistry Meeting; Dr. Fernando Bastos, representing the V Meeting of Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology and the student coordinator, Humberto Bastos, a XNUMXth semester student.

In parallel to Joba, the XNUMXst Pediatric Dentistry Meeting of Bahiana, V Meeting of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology, the IX Meeting of Former Dentistry Students of Bahiana.

Throughout the activities, the Bahia Academic League of Education and Oral Health (LABESB) organized the JOBA Comunidade, a space where oral health promotion activities were carried out with children from the Comenius Education Institute, promoting various activities such as supervised brushing, topical application of fluorine, Atraumatic restorative treatment (ART) in primary teeth and dental care in the Odontomóvel.

The student coordinator, Prof. Lívia Prates, highlights the growth of JOBA over the years, and in this edition, the number of enrollments surpassed that of all previous ones, bringing a well-targeted scientific grid to the area of pediatric dentistry and surgery. The grid also covered all specialties through generalist lectures bringing professors from abroad, covering all areas, from molecular biology, the use of stem cells, to specialized treatments, such as virtual planning of facial surgery and orthognathic surgery.

“The 15th JOBA is a debutante, it's an event that grew and started with few students from a School that was little known, being the second in the area of Dentistry in Salvador. Today, we beat the record in the number of entries with more than 700 entries and approximately 270 works”, he explains.

According to Humberto Bastos, Joba's student coordinator, it is gratifying to participate in the journey towards sales success, registered works and qualification in lectures and workshops. “I am extremely happy with the development of our activities. We were surprised by the sales record, as it was the journey with the highest number of entries and this leaves us with more "gas" to continue the work and happy for being an organized journey, basically built step by step by us students, by a commission that follows a teaching coordination but which also has the participation of the student body”, he explains.

Dr. Bruno Trevisan Rosa reports that it was a great pleasure to receive the invitation to give a lecture at JOBA on Profitability and quality of life in the dental office. "I graduated in the first Dentistry class at the Bahiana and here I met several colleagues and friends who belonged to my time. After 13 years of graduation, it is gratifying to return as an alumnus and lecture. Joba was another very important experience as she had already participated in the organization of the first journey”, he explains.

On the second day of activities, in addition to the workshops and hands-on, the Joba – Debutante drawing was held with a prize of 200 reais in credit at Estúdio Tatto Arte, in addition to the prize for scientific works.

During the closing ceremony, a tribute was paid to Prof. Dr. Ceres Mendonça Fontes for her dedication to teaching and commitment to the institution and to the Dentistry course.

“Talking about emotions is not easy for me. I can simply say that I was very happy with everything I experienced in this process: being the 'JOBAS NAME'. The positive expressions and speeches of all colleagues and students went deep into my soul, as they demonstrated and reinforced that the care with which I have always tried to treat everyone, respecting and welcoming in diversities, was perceived by them and this is very good for the heart and for self-esteem. I felt deeply flattered”, reports Dr. Ceres.

During the two days of the event, the band Praiero animated the program, entertaining all JOBA participants.
