Inauguration of the new Research Center of the Bahiana

"A scenario for developing talents and discovering scientific vocations, so that the researcher not only has the opportunity to read the science transcribed in a book, but to contribute to scientific work. Bahiana it is an institution that stands out because it has an atypical scenario, ahead of its time, in monitoring scientific and technological development.” Thus, professor Diego Menezes, who in early 2016 was coordinator of Research and Innovation at Bahiana, describes the Multidisciplinary Shared Center inaugurated on May 9, at the Academic Unit Brotas. The ceremony was attended by several managers, researchers and professors of the institution and was a moment to celebrate yet another action that leads to Bahiana to differentiated level with regard to scientific research.

"Bahiana it is aware of its commitment and its social responsibility in promoting the development of scientific research, giving professors and students the opportunity to have a space to develop research. So, this is the opportunity for new talent to appear. Many teachers and students will have their vocations awakened from the research carried out within the Bahiana, like scientific initiation students. And it's time to focus on research and innovation. It is, effectively, the time to turn to new ideas, so that we can bring innovation to the country", declared the dean of Bahiana, Prof. Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani.

"The center will bring together all the research centers of the Bahiana offering its own infrastructure for scientific research with state-of-the-art equipment" explains the space manager, Dr. Alene Azevedo dos Santos.

Professor Atson Fernandes, coordinator of research and innovation at Bahiana, points out that one of the benefits of the center is to avoid duplication of materials and the possibility of sharing equipment acquired by research projects. "The purpose here is to make this center multiuser. Today we have many researchers who raise resources and equipment and the idea is to make these resources available to the entire academic community. We have another project which is to register all equipment on the site to make life easier for researchers and avoiding duplication of material, optimizing resources. And strengthening our partnerships with other institutions, also for sharing equipment. This center will represent this area of intelligence, sharing and exchanging ideas because we have good researchers and we need to bring them together and, based on shared ideas, we can grow the institution further in the field of research and postgraduate studies".
