From April 25th to 30th and May 2nd to 7th, from 8 am to 17 pm, the Handicraft Fair was held at the Academic Units Cabula and Brotas da Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.

The schedule was open to the public of Bahiana and had an exhibition of various segments of handicrafts such as sequilhos, semi-jewels, clothing, carton, sandals, works with silkscreen and handmade chocolates, among other items. During the event period, workshops were also held at the two units with turbans, gourmet brigadeiros and handmade flowers.

According to Aurilene Emídio, organizer of the fair that takes place in the Bahiana for more than five years, it has been a pleasurable job, as it allows the academic community and the School's general public to get to know the work done by the artisans.

“We developed this fair with the objective of providing opportunities for learning about craft techniques, in addition to exposing the artisanal segments produced by the artisans”, he says.

For artisan Gisele Cristina, programming is an opportunity to expose her skills not only to the academic community but to the general public.

“I've had it here at the fair, last year, and I work with two types of segments, the part of serigraphy and sublimation on tiles made by me. I participate in the Bahia Artisans Fair Association and it is a privilege to exhibit my work here at Bahiana, such a highly regarded school in the market”, explains artisan Gisele Cristina.

“It's the fifth time that I participate in the fair and sell cookies, handmade goods that come straight from Mutuípe and showing this work is very gratifying for me”, concludes the artisan Herculano Passos.
