On May 12th, Nursing Day is celebrated worldwide. The date marks the birth of Florence Nightingale, an English pioneer in the treatment of war wounded and in teaching the profession.

To celebrate the vocation and the special day, teachers from Bahiana define, in inspiring words, what nursing represents to them. Check out:

Cristiane Magali Freitas dos Santos (course coordinator)

"Nursing is to extract an energy that we cultivate in the field of knowledge and the heart and use to take care of life. It is being a professional who cares, who researches, who educates, who integrates and who likes so many, many, different people."

Aide Nunes

"Nursing materialized my dream of living with dignity!

A magical, challenging flight...

Through it I traveled a long road, teaching, learning, under the rain and sun of the unpaved hinterland...

Through her, at every step, I found easy laughter, pain, hope, faith, but also mismatches...

For her I wake up, I mourn and I dare to dream that today will be better than yesterday..."

Artur gomes

"What would the sick person do without Nursing? I would keep the illness!"

Gleice Sampaio

"To be a nurse is to carefully take care of the human being with dedication, love, commitment and loyalty.

Nursing is the art of caring, caring that is not limited to the physical, caring that encompasses the spirit and mind."

Dorea Robelia

"Nursing is: overcoming, commitment, dedication, knowledge, vibration, victory and love."

Rosicleide Freitas

"Nursing is: achievement, pleasure, love, commitment, science and dedication."
