On April 8, from 9 am to 10:30 am, the XNUMXst Stage of the Brazilian Karate Championship – Adapted Karate Category was held at the Banco do Brasil Athletic Association (AABB), in the Piatã neighborhood.

The program brought together professors and students from all courses in the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, collaborators, parents of adapted karate students and the external community with the objective of publicizing the sport activity within the institution and valuing the importance of social inclusion through sport.

During the activity, 22 athletes competed in the PCDs (adapted karate) category, including children, young adults and elderly people with physical and intellectual disabilities. Of these athletes, 12 were classified for the II stage, which takes place in October, in São Paulo and, among them, there were two autistic ones who performed the Katá (imaginary fighting modality with a sequence of movements in different directions) alone without needing the intervention of a professional.

The final result counted eight gold medals, three silver and one bronze.
