Dentistry students participate in the Pre-Joba

New technologies applied to dentistry were the motto of the Pré-Joba, a meeting that kicks off the activities of the Dentistry Journey of Bahiana (Joba), which took place on the night of April 8, at the Cabula Academic Unit. With the participation of Dentistry academics from Bahiana and from institutions such as Unime and Ufba, the event presented the lectures “Planning in Orthognathic Surgery: Conventional X Digital”, given by Prof. Dr. Marcio Marchionni and “Customizations: A New Reality in Facial Reconstructions” with Prof. Dr. Adriano Assis.

"This year we are at the 15th edition of Joba, which has become an event of regional importance and even national recognition, because we always bring teachers from abroad, which is very interesting. Regarding the subject that we brought today, it really is a more advanced subject and that is not seen in graduation. However, students need to know what is being done in the most advanced way in Dentistry. And I brought what we are doing in orthognathic surgery within the virtual environment. We plan all the surgery in the virtual environment and then we move on to the surgical reality. For the students, the contact with this "new", during their training period, is important to enthuse them, so that they can go beyond what is learned in graduation", declared Prof. Marcio Marchionni.

"It is very important that we are here experiencing this moment. It is essentially new content and these professors are extremely competent and renowned in the area. We are here observing all this movement of updates and new technologies in this theme, which is orthognathic planning, it is essential to complete the Our knowledge. In addition, 15 years of Joba, 15 years of tradition. We are recognized for an extremely efficient and organized journey and, above all, committed. This is expected to be a 15th Joba debutante!", declares the student of the 8th semester of Dentistry of Bahiana, Luana Dias.

For the president of Joba's student committee, Humberto Bastos, 9th semester student of Dentistry at Bahiana, the quality of the speakers at Pré-Joba is translated by the great adherence of academics to the event. "The best answer for the quality of the speakers at Pré-Joba is this full auditorium, which justifies excellent speakers. Pré-Joba is the kickoff, it is when we announce that the journey is being developed". 

According to the student, Joba's focus is on scientific production. "The main objective of the journey is to collaborate with the scientific production of academics. Joba's biggest challenge is to make the students adhere to this event and recognize its importance. As a student, the responsibility is greater for not knowing everything I do. should to coordinate an event. However, this is my 3rd Joba as a member of the committee, but for the first time as president, so I'm at the stage of getting to know my biggest challenge, which is Joba, because it's an event made by students for students. We are lucky to have wonderful teachers who help us with what to do. They set goals and we meet them", says Humberto, who is also president of the Academic Directory of the Dentistry course.


What's new

To celebrate Joba's 15th anniversary, the event's general coordinator, Prof. Dr. Lívia Prates, says that a festive program is being prepared, in addition to the holding of parallel events. "This is the debutante journey. It's 15 years of Joba. We have a committee that was only responsible for the festive part of the journey. We will have an environment of socialization with a stage, where students will be able to perform musical presentations, recite poetry and, in addition, , we are going to have the ex-students meeting, for which we expect a large quorum. We are also expecting a large number of scientific papers. The program will include lectures from all specialties. We will also have the 1st Pediatric Dentistry Meeting Bahiana and the 5th Surgery Meeting", he announces.

The 15th Meeting of Dentistry of Bahiana takes place on May 19th and 20th at the Cabula Academic Unit and is open to Dentistry students of all semesters and educational institutions.
