Medical students win the Professor Nelson Barros Award

The Bahia Society of Pediatrics award is intended for undergraduate and medical residency works.

Medical students at the Bahiana Isadora Aragão Silva Trabuco, Augusto Setúbal Pinto and Maria Clara Carvalho Silva de Amorim won, respectively, 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the 3rd edition of the Professor Nelson Barros Award, in the category of Undergraduate Medicine Students. The award is a realization of the Bahia Society of Pediatrics (Sobape) and took place on March 9, at the Associação Bahiana of Medicine (ABM). The ceremony also registered the inauguration of pediatrician Dolores Fernandez, general director of the Institute of Perinatology of Bahia (Iperba), who assumes the presidency of Sobape until 2018, in place of pediatrician Fernando Barreiro.

CONTEST

The Professor Nelson Barros Award is intended for Course Completion Papers (TCC) and Medical Residency Conclusions whose theme is in the field of pediatrics. For this edition, works presented in 2014 and 2015 were evaluated.

The honor is a tribute to the founder and first president of the society, professor emeritus at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and pediatrician Nelson Barros, who died in March 2015, when he would turn 86 years old.
