Flamengo Athletic School participates in competition next Sunday (13)

The achievement of citizenship through sport. It can be said that this is the mission of the Escolinha de Atletismo Flamengo, the newest entity to receive support from the Flamengo this year. Bahiana and who will be participating, on March 13, in a competition at SESI Simões Filho.

The Flamengo Athletics School will participate in the event with 30 athletes aged from seven to 20 years, in running, jumping and launching modalities. The competitions start at 14 pm and the entire community Bahiana is invited to watch and cheer for the athletes. SESI Simões Filho is located on Avenida Engenheiro Elmo Serejo de Farias.


In Partnership with Bahiana

In yet another social responsibility action, the Bahiana, through the Physical Education course, started to support, this year, the Escolinha de Atletismo Flamengo. According to the course coordinator, Prof. Clarcson Plácido, "the proposal is to assist the students through a visit to the school, where we will assess the athletes for a diagnosis and a performance development plan". The team with professors and students from Bahiana will carry out the first visit in May and return in September to reassess the athletes' results.


History

The project has been in existence since January 1, 2006 and for a decade has been serving a public from 7 to 20 years of age in the communities of Flamengo and Araras, in the municipality of Jaguarari. "During this period, more than 500 children and young people were assisted directly, with an indirect impact on more than 1.500 people", says the creator and coordinator of the project, Antônio Bonfim Ferreira, Ferreirinha, as he is known.

"The Flamengo athletics school project is admirable. It is a project linked to social responsibility, inclusion, care for children and young people, changing the perspective and performance of these people's lives in the interior of Bahia. So, the importance of relation of Bahiana with a project like this, it reinforces the institution's vocation for social responsibility, which is something very rich for us”, declares Prof. Luiza Ribeiro, coordinator of People Development at Bahiana.

Another reason presented by Professor Luiza is the possibility of exchanging knowledge for the entire academic community at Bahiana and, above all, for the Physical Education course. “In addition, we will also be able to exchange knowledge, attention, care. Ferreirinha is an inspiring person. Today we have a new course which is Physical Education which is starting its activities with all the quality and having someone in this area as an example, as a north, who is real, who dreams and does, which modifies a reality with love, professionalism and as a result, it is a gain for the community. Bahiana and for sport in Bahia. Our freshmen could feel the strength of this person who is a great example for all of us, the coherence between what he believes and what he does. It is not a utopia to carry out actions like that of Ferreirinha in Jaguarari. And, above all, for the Physical Education course, this partnership has enormous symbolism”. Ferreirinha was one of the attractions at the reception for freshmen from Bahiana which took place in January, at the Cabula Academic Unit. On the occasion, he presented the project for the school and some of the results of his athletes in competitions nationwide.

“Our main achievements are citizenship, the discovery of capacity, the certainty that we can, that we are capable of victories never achieved, that we are really strong, but above all, talented”, concludes Ferreirinha.
