As of 2016, the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) will start providing training on the Journal Portal via the web. The main objective of the training is to serve a wider range of users of the virtual library, since the digital medium allows quick and easy access to information, without limiting the time of instructors or the logistics required to place users and multipliers in the same place and time.

The technology used will be Mconf – a multi-conference service developed by the National Education and Research Network (RNP) with extensive real-time audio and video communication capabilities.

Enrollments can be made by accessing the training area of the portal via the link; http://www.periodicos.capes.gov.br and in addition to training, training will be provided for editors with whom Capes has a contract.

More information about online training can be obtained by emailing users: training.periodicos@capes.gov.br.

In 2015, 35 on-site training sessions were carried out, qualifying an audience of more than four thousand people from the academic community – professors, researchers, librarians, undergraduate and graduate students and professionals from different areas. Compared to 2014, the number of classes doubled. In 2016, the estimate is that this number will increase even more due to computerization in the practice of classes.

Through training, it is possible to verify what content is available to the Brazilian academic and scientific community, understand more clearly the available research tools and thus facilitate the search process for the desired information in the shortest time possible.
