Next weekend (January 16th and 17th), the third edition of ParaPraia will start. Since 2014, the project has promoted assisted bathing in the sea for people with physical disabilities or reduced mobility. This year, the activities will be carried out on Ondina beach, in front of the Baiano Rehabilitation Institute (IBR), and on Bogari beach (Ribeira).

The action is carried out with the use of adapted chairs and the monitoring of students and teachers of the Physiotherapy course at Bahiana, in addition to physical educators and lifeguards. In total, 400 professionals will be involved.

Beach access lanes and tents, in addition to special restrooms, will be set up to carry out recreational activities. The project has already served 700 people in two years and the expectation is that, this season, around 35 people will be served daily. In Ondina, activities continue until the 31st. Between the 13th and 28th of February, ParaPraia will be on Bogari beach, in Ribeira.

The initiative is sponsored by Braskem, Itaú and Salvador Shopping.
