“The Biomedicine course has emerged as one of the best in Brazil. We are pleased to present several quality indicators that have been identified and published by public institutions (INEP) and independent institutions (Folha de São Paulo), which confirm the quality of our course” explains the coordinator of the Biomedicine course, Prof. Geraldo Ferraro, at the commemoration of Biomedical Day, on November 18 at the Cabula Academic Unit Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.

The event was organized by the Biomedicine Course Coordination of Bahiana, together with PET-Biomedicina, Academic Directory and Academic Leagues linked to the course and brought together professors, students and biomedical professionals. The opening was given by Prof. Geraldo Ferraro and then several lectures were presented, covering different important subjects in the field of biomedicine, including cytogenetics, aesthetic biomedicine and the role of the biomedic in regenerative medicine.

According to Prof, Thomas Pitangueira, the biomedical has a vast contribution to offer, involving more than 30 areas of expertise, it is important to bring it to the academic community and the general public so that they know these areas and, in them, the performance of the biomedical professional .

"The biomedical has gained a lot of attention in the medical sciences scenario for all its contribution in the various areas of biomedicine, from some areas that are focused on patient care to those that are more focused on the laboratory part", he explains.

“The area of regenerative medicine in Brazil encompasses few groups and, therefore, its dissemination, mainly to biomedical professionals, is very interesting, as we were able to recruit people to enter this very promising area”, explains the biomedic and former student gives Bahiana, Daniela Nascimento Silva.

According to former student and biomedic, Camila Campos, the area of aesthetic biomedicine is enchanting and it was an honor to return to the institution to give this lecture. "I was a student here and came back as a professional in a very new field for both Bahiana as for Salvador it is always an honor. I'm flattered, because it's an area that fascinated me and I know that whenever I bring issues related to aesthetic biomedicine to people, it ends up delighting a lot of people. There are many new procedures emerging and we are always looking to update ourselves”, he says.

“Usually we don't have many events in the area of biomedicine and I think it's very important that we celebrate Biomedical Day and get to know other aspects that it offers us”, explains Camila Chaves, 4th semester of the Biomedicine course at Bahiana and member of PET Biomedicina.

According to the 8th semester student of the Biomedicine course at Bahiana, Yasmine Borges, the area is very new and achieving events that bring together renowned biomedics is very important, as biomedicine is associated with technology and practically trains scientists. "These lectures, in addition to propagating our attributions and activities, are very relevant to our curricular component, in addition to updating us as professionals in the area that we will be able to exercise."

At the end of the program, a round table was formed that brought together specialists in bioimaging and master's students who brought some of their experiences and answered questions by interacting with the event's audience.
