II Life Cycle Development Journey

The PBL Method in Focus was the theme of the II Journey of the Development of the Life Cycle, on August 01st, at the Academic Unit Brotas da Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública. The program brought together students and professors from the Psychology course in order to share reflections on the active methodology of problem-based learning.

The coordinator of the Psychology course, Sylvia Barreto, the coordinator of the PBL Group, Anabela Queiroz, who explained the theme “Problems enter through the front door”, were present. The Psychology course teachers Isabella Queiroz and Silvanne Ribeiro spoke about “Problem-based learning: foundations and reflections on the method” and Prof. Nádia Matos presented the theme: “PBL, meaningful learning and the meaning of learning” .

“From Déscartes to Da Vinci: PBL and transdisciplinarity” was the title of the speech by Prof. Andréa Diniz, followed by teachers Maria Beatriz Barreto do Carmo and Lidiane Gomes who commented on “From the master explainer to the ignorant master: initial experiences in the ABP method in a psychology course in Bahia”.

Prof. Carla Sampaio who addressed the theme “PBL: trails or rails” and Prof. Carla Sampaio also participated in the activities. Ubton Nascimento who commented on “Collective construction of knowledge: dramatic action complementary to PBL”. Also present were the pedagogical supervisor Lígia Vilas Bôas and Prof. Mônica Ramos Daltro.

The program also had the special participation of the 6th semester student of the Psychology course, Kaike Oliveira, who declared the PBL in Cordel.

“The II Jornada has an advance, an achievement, due to the publications that are taking place. Teachers have been meeting, studying, reflecting and, now, they have synthesized it in articles that will be published and today we will share it with the academic community and with other higher education professors at Bahiana and external, our reflections on the PBL methodology in the life cycle of the psychology course”, reports the coordinator of the Psychology course, Sylvia Barreto.

“I really believe in this method and created a theme for this poetry. “PBL: an underlevel learning brand. PBL is an MAA: Assertive learning method”, declared student Kaike Oliveira.

“Since 2009, a group of professors from the Psychology course at Bahiana has been starting to work with the curricular components that are part of the human being and development axis. We are using the PBL method, which is a method within the field of active methodologies, which has a cognitive process of steps, which fulfills a complete cycle of seven steps, which basically seeks to teach the student to learn and build knowledge autonomously", concludes the coordinator of the PBL Group, Anabela Queiroz.
