“It's a lot of joy. An event that has grown so much and, since 15 years ago, it started discreetly and today is a grandiose event with many qualified scientific works. This is a time for gathering”. This is the definition that the director of Bahiana, Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani, takes part in the Scientific and Cultural Exhibition, held on October 01st and 02nd, at the Cabula Academic Unit, which this year reached its 15th edition, encompassing the XIII Scientific Initiation Journey - PIBIC, V Forum of the Researchers and II Extension Exhibition with around 400 works registered.

“We have been together since the beginning of this project. Over these 15 years, more than three thousand works were presented within the institution. The exhibition managed to do what it set out to do and is doing much more than providing this internal integration between courses, the external community and faculties. Therefore, we achieve our holistic and pedagogical goal. We are doing good health beyond that, because culture, art and poetry are transforming the human being into someone better”, reports the coordinator of the Psychopedagogical Care Center (NAAP), Maria Angélica Mendes.

The program included short courses, workshops, health promotion actions carried out at the institution with several stands of academic leagues, in addition to presentations of the work of students throughout the program. In addition to students, professors and employees, the Bahiana received the presence of Prof. Dr. Maurício Barreto, professor at UFBA and senior researcher at Fiocruz BA who gave the conference “How to assess science as a deficient science of scientific assessment” and the visit of children from the Escola Municipal da Engomadeira. Throughout the program, participants had the privilege of watching a grandiose presentation by NEOJIBÁ and a play promoted by the members of the Bahianescer group.

“Researchers meeting is always good, discussing what they are doing, suffering criticism, reflecting together, collecting knowledge, sharing and motivating young researchers, students for a research career, is important. This forum is of great importance to universities and colleges. It was a pleasure, if I could contribute a little to this event”, reports Prof. Dr. Maurício Barreto.

For the student Rodrigo Brasil, from the 1st semester of the Dentistry course, the forum was very enriching and could clarify several areas of the research. one is attending. Research is very important to develop science in any area”, says Rodrigo.

"This event brings together the scientific exhibition, the scientific initiation meeting and the researchers' forum to disseminate the activities developed in the area of research and extension in the academic environment of the school, not only the school, but also bringing some guests and the community", explains Graduate and Undergraduate Coordinator Prof. Maria de Lourdes Freitas.

The forum is a moment of knowledge of all aspects of scientific research. “I'm loving it and, as I have great interest in research, especially in the field of physiotherapy, which is an area that is expanding, it is very important because I am getting to know other forms of research and various alternatives in the area”, says Clarissa Maria, 2nd semester of the Physiotherapy course at Bahiana.

"I took part with so many other people from the beginning of this, in 2000 and it is so beautiful to see 15 years of history that today are revealed in this way, we see a crowded auditorium bringing Neojibá, enhancing an event like this and bringing culture, education and sensitivity to our students. There are many people involved in this process, in addition to coordinators, professors, employees, persons responsible for SEPSE services, directors, employees, everyone is involved. This is the 'paradise'”, concludes the People Development coordinator at Bahiana, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro.

“It is gratifying to be awarded for our work. We developed, at ADAB, a project with obese hypertensive and diabetic people, patients are very receptive. It's a moment of celebration, this award”, reports Tarsila Silva, a student of the 8th semester of Nursing, who won the prize in the draw.
