“I started making sweets in the 2nd year of high school and today I can fund my college with them. I always made it to order and when I joined the Bahiana, I started to market them in the academic environment. Today, I have the opportunity to make a sample here at Agosto das Artes”, says Lethícia Rogério, 19 years old, student in the 2nd semester of the Psychology course. She was present at the 4th edition of “Agosto das Artes”, last Tuesday, August 25, at the Academic Unit Brotas.

August das Artes is an annual cultural and artistic show that, this year, took place on the 18th, at the Cabula Academic Unit, and on the 25th and 27th, at the Academic Unit Brotas.

“Agosto das Artes” is an initiative of the Psychopedagogy Care Center (NAPP) that brings together teachers, students and partners from Bahiana in order to foster art within the academic environment, through workshops, music, art exhibitions, among other skills.

“This space is a moment of integration between students, professors and employees. The idea is that art and the relationship with feeling, with the world, people and differences change people's worldview, making us capable of producing, of working with another perspective, seeing the subject as a whole .”, explains Angelica Mendes, coordinator of the NAPP.

The project's proposal is to circulate art and culture in the academic environment and, mainly, in the health area. “Students, in general, are very focused on the study of skills in their area of expertise and have many talents. The NAPP welcomes the students, upon entering the School, it realizes that many have a gift for music, dance, plastic arts and, with the project, we can mobilize them in an informal way within the academy", says Josélia Abreu, psychopedagogue at NAPP.

“On vacation, I started watching several origami tutorials and got interested. Today, in “Agosto das Artes”, I develop a workshop on paper folding, which is a Japanese technique in which we have the possibility of creating a variety of shapes”, concludes Ismara Soares, 6th semester of the Psychology course.
